The company was started with one lorry and a small nucleus of reliable sub-contract hauliers and initially traded from premises at Lamberhurst in Kent.
In 1997, the base moved to Laddingford, mid-way between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone. A controlled expansion programme was implemented and the fleet now comprises of some twenty-two vehicles. Most are “8 wheelers” (18-20 tonne capacity) but there are also 6 wheeler tippers and 6 wheeler grab-tippers which are able to get into sites with restricted access where the 8 wheelers cannot go. There is also a “small load” lorry with a 3.5 tonne capacity. All the lorries have experienced drivers who are encouraged to take pride in their vehicles and be courteous to customers and the general public.
Drivers are provided with mobile phones for rapid communication with the office. Additionally, the vehicles are fitted with real time satellite tracking devices which enable the lorries to be located from the office computers within 10 seconds, as well as providing detailed historical data on vehicle journeys. This normally enables us to respond to customer delivery enquiries immediately.
The company also operates a fleet of bulldozers and excavators for use on earthworks projects, where the experience and advice available can be of great benefit to private clients and builders not conversant with excavation and earthworks techniques.
